Child Swimming Lessons & Aquatic Play

Water Play, Water Safety and the Strokes

“Tim is so wonderful with kids, so good about respecting them and their wishes, while also somehow giving them the confidence to want to push their own boundaries and learn new things. He really has a gift for bringing out the best in kids”

— Rachel C.

Water elicits a natural playfulness and curiosity within children

My role in our sessions is to facilitate the natural process of learning within a child towards becoming more water-safe, through supported play and guided exploration from within the water environment.

My sessions with children combine a unique, focussed teaching approach with a spacious, therapeutic and playful experience of being in the water.

I will never push or rush children, but wish to facilitate a space for them to explore, play, and learn at their own pace. I encourage a more intuitive, spontaneous and self-directed process of learning.

“My son was terrified of the water and terrified of teachers and we had tried so many different classes, all resulting in tears or panic attacks. But Tim has such a gentle, calm, playful and patient nature, he has really brought my son out of his shell, and he is now completely confident in the water and able to swim.

— Hannah T.

I will always teach from within the water, helping to build trust and creating a strong connection with each child. This also allows me to provide extra support, guide their movements, and assist them as they learn to swim and develop their strokes, greatly accelerating their progress.

Our sessions will always prioritise—above and beyond anything else—the safety and wellbeing of each individual swimmer, and the cultivation of respectful, trusting and supportive learning relationships

“Tim is a wonderful swimming teacher and, more than that, his lessons have provided an invaluable space for my granddaughter to express herself and improve her well-being for which we are so grateful. Tim's patience and care are second to none. I whole-heartedly recommend him”

— Anna W.

“Tim has taught both my daughters to swim. Swimming with Tim wasn’t just about the swimming. Tim has a calming and positive aura which has definitely contributed to improving their confidence and resilience in other areas of their day to day lives”

— Clare T.

Regrettably I am currently unable to take on any new child swimmers due to being full / having limited availability. Please feel free to register your interest in any future openings using the contact form below.

Please note that I am currently unable to respond to new enquiries—but I will keep a record of your interest.

Special consideration will be given for any child who has had a traumatic related experience in the past who may benefit more from the therapeutic aspects of the swimming service. I am unfortunately not trained to support children with complex or high-level Special Educational Needs (SEN). If your child has additional needs, please reach out so we can discuss whether my approach would be a good fit or if a more specialised instructor might be better suited.
